About your guide
Certified snorkel guide
What You’ll See And Do
Before you dip into the water, your certified La Jolla guide will guide you through using your snorkel equipment correctly and teach you the snorkeling basics on dry land. You don’t require previous snorkeling experience. After your introduction to snorkeling, you’ll be briefed on the coastal conditions and wildlife before entering the La Jolla Ecological Reserve.
You’ll snorkel along the shallows and have the opportunity to swim alongside harmless leopard sharks in the sandy flats of La Jolla Cove. You will also explore underwater and observe different sea life, such as garibaldi, shovel nose guitarfish, and stingrays, with your guide before you continue exploring on your own when the tour has concluded. You may keep the snorkel equipment until 5 pm, by which time it should be return to our La Jolla Store.

Don’t let the ‘shark’ in Leopard Shark deter you from interacting with these harmless, gentle giants! Our snorkel tour offers a chance to see these beautiful creatures up close and in their natural environment.
We recommend a bathing suit, a towel and a change of clothing as well as applying sunblock before heading out onto the water.
Wetsuits are available for rent. They are not necessary or required.
We recommend ages 12 and up. General swimming knowledge is required.
If ocean conditions are not suitable for snorkeling, we may pivot to a kayak tour or possibly cancel operations for the day based on conditions.
